Get Involved
Moadon Kol Chadash is a small, non-profit school. In order to function successfully, the school relies on parent participation in school activities. It is your leadership, expertise, and skill set that contributes to the success of our school and our students, and we urge you to get involved in any way — however great or small. Whatever your schedule, abilities, or interests, there is a volunteer opportunity for you.
- Download a Parent Volunteer Form and return it to the main office.
- Downolad a Silent Auction Donor Letter and Form to solicit items for our 2012 Silent Auction
- Gan Gani Snack Sign-Up site By signing up to bring a snack or supplemental fresh produce on a particular day, you are helping to offset the cost of providing high quality, fresh, and healthy food for our children at Gan Gani.
Current Programs and Opportunities Include:
The Ambassador Program
Co-Chairs: Mikala C. Stewart and Michal Solovy
The Ambassador Program is designed to facilitate a smooth transition into the new school year for new families through family-to-family relationships. The program pairs an incoming family with an existing Gan Gani or Moadon family to help them become better and more easily integrated into the community. An Ambassador Family welcomes new families to the school, introduces them to other families, answers questions, and introduces children at play dates. Ambassadors are also asked to attend one of two summer play dates on site. (Dates and times to be announced in the Kickoff email.) Volunteers that express interest in serving as an Ambassador Family will be matched with an incoming family in the Spring of 2011 and will sponsor them throughout the 2011 - 2012 school year.
Gan Gani Group Parent Program or Moadon Room Parent Program
Chair: Amy Dolgin
Group Parents and Room Parents act as a liaison to the parents in Gan Gani and Moadon and keep them informed of activities in the classroom and at the school. Group and Room Parent responsibilities include emailing the parents in the various groups or classes to introduce yourself; assisting the school in recruiting food donations for the lunch room; assisting the teachers with planning special events for the classroom; communicating pertinent Parent Association and class information via email to the parents within your group or class; and acting as the liaison to the school’s Annual Benefit Committee.
Adult Education / Parent Networking Committee
Chair: Cheryl Sloane
The Adult Education and Parent Networking Committee helps coordinate and promote lectures and discussion groups featuring both Moadon faculty and outside speakers. Adult education activities for the coming year range from Yoga classes and child development seminars to book clubs and social events. The Adult Education and Parent Networking Committee is a great way to get involved and foster friendships in learning in our community.
Holidays / Special Events
Chair: Volunteer Needed
Holiday / Special Event volunteers are asked to support the school in age appropriate celebrations by decorating the school, assisting faculty in staff with shopping, set-up, clean-up and overall coordination of planned dinners, lunches, and events. Volunteering to assist with the holiday preparation is a wonderful way to create lasting memories with the Gan Gani and Moadon children, and a great way to get a sneak peak of the labor of love that the staff pours into each celebration.
Annual Benefit and Auction Committee
Chair: Mikala C. Stewart
Moadon’s Annual Benefit is both an important fundraiser for the school and an opportunity for parents, faculty, and staff to enjoy a wonderful evening together. We need both committee chairs and volunteers to help with event planning, marketing, auction donations, invitations, decorating, auction product solicitation, and more.
Grandparents/Special Friends Program
Chair: Judy Kaufman
In its continued commitment to involve extended families in the life of our students at school, Moadon is proud to introduce the Grandparents/Special Friends Program. To inaugurate this new program, there will be two special events for grandparents or Special Friends with the students: A September Shabbat / Rosh Hashanah Lunch for the Gan Gani students, and a March Passover Program, “Bring Something New to the Passover Table” for both Gan Gani and Moadon students.
